There’s so much to do in York: climb the 275 steps of York Minster or 104 steps up to Clifford’s Tower (both give fine views over the city; visit the Jorvik Centre for a journey back to the Viking Age; take a boat on the river; at the Castle Museum wander down the reconstructed Victorian Street; walk the 2 ½ miles of city walls to see York from a different perspective; or visit the world’s largest railway museum ( the National Railway Museum is free entry) Of course there are also many shops down the numerous narrow streets, including the famous Shambles as well as the Newgate Market which operates 7 days a week. Very near to the York Minster is the Treasurer’s House and its garden, well worth a visit and free if you are a member of the National Trust and have your membership card with you.
There are many eateries in York, including at nearly all the places mentioned above.
Note: We will drop off and pick up near York City Centre and the Railway Museum.
