Hi everybody

One of our eagle-eyed members has identified a problem with our log-on process that has meant we had to do a COMPLETE reset of everyone’s password to a computer generated one.

This means that if/when you attempt to log on to the PU3A website to view any details that are in the password protected area you will receive a message saying your log on details are incorrect.

Our guys have now corrected the problem (a result of changes made to the system because of what went on last week) that slipped under the radar

What you need to do is as follows (it is a bit long winded but the best we can do)

  1. Click on the “Member Login” button at top right of home screen
  2. Complete your details as normal using the password you already know
  3. The system will refuse you access saying Login details incorrect, please try again.
  4. Below the fields you have entered your details in there is a link saying “Forgotten your password? Click here.
  5. Click that link
  6. You will receive an email to the address provided, telling you your generated password.
  7. Go back to the PU3A home page and follow the normal login process using the password sent in the email.
  8. You will now be logged in
  9. Click  “My Details” on the top toolbar
  10. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find “Change your password”
  11. Enter the computer generated password into the first field
  12. Enter a new password (NOT YOUR PREVIOUSLY USED ONE) into field 2
  13. Retype the same new password into field 3.
  14. Click “Save my password”.

You can now log on each time using the NEW password.

We tried to think of a better way - but considering the attempted hack last week we felt it was the best way to be sure that nobody is gaining unauthorised entry.

We are sorry that you have had to go through all this faffing about, but we want to be ultra-sure that your details are safe in the PU3A system.
