Plane Daft (Aviation)

‘Plane Daft’ (Aviation)

Although I am not, nor ever have been, a pilot, flying has fascinated me for as long as I can remember.  Some of my earliest memories involve aircraft; newly constructed Canberra bombers shimmering in the sunshine at Squires Gate, a DH Comet I taking off at London Airport (pre Heathrow), Biggin Hill when still an R.A.F. base, Croydon Airport, etc.  Since my teens, I have flown as a passenger in a number of aircraft, including Dragon Rapides, Vickers Viscounts, Boeing jet airliners, Airbuses from A300 to A380, from land and sea, but my best experiences were the flying lesson my family gave me for my sixtieth birthday and the Christmas Gift of a Tiger Moth flight from Duxford!  I read about aeroplanes, observe them with and without binoculars, photograph them and frequent air displays, notably Flying Legends at Duxford, and go weak at the knees at the sight of a Spitfire!

Following the programme shown below is a selection of images:

A series representing presentations scheduled for this year; plus a few images taken at the Newark Aviation Museum, when PD(A)G joined Day Trips for a grand day out.
